Martin Glodde,
Research Manager @ King Industries Inc.
About
I am an innovative and high-performing professional with a Ph.D in Chemistry and extensive experience polymer science, materials science and chemical process engineering within industrial manufacturing sectors, holding 20 US patents. Throughout my career, I’ve liaised with various functional teams to develop chemical process controls within research projects through criteria designing and experimenting, exploring a wide range of resources to achieve an overarching objective for the organization such as cost-optimized lithography. I leverage my ability to apply my technical knowledge to effectively resolve issues and innovate processes while guiding direction for multiple research projects focused on developing components for chemical projects simultaneously. I remain committed to progressing, growing, and developing as a professional, conducting in-depth scientific exploration to create end-products optimizing chemical manufacturing processes. My Scientific Acumen includes: - Synthetic Organic Chemistry: Multistep organic synthesis of small molecules, electronic materials, monomers and dendrimers - Polymer Chemistry: Living and free radical polymerization, polycondensation, ring-opening polymerization - Broad knowledge of application-specific characterization techniques: 1D and 2D NMR, MS, MALDI-TOF, UV/Vis, IR, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal gravimetry (TGA), X-ray diffraction, thermal optical polarized microscopy, cyclovoltammetry, dynamic light scattering, zeta potential, SEM - Separation Techniques: LC, GPC, HPLC, electrophoresis - Surface Chemistry: Contact angle measurements, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, ellipsometry, adhesion testing. - Other: Polymethacrylate / Polyacrylate Synthesis, Polymer Crosslinking (Heat, UV), adhesive formulations, coating formulations, sealant formulations My Technical Acumen includes: - Visual Basic Script and Turbo Pascal: Write programs to facilitate processing of larger amounts of scientific data and to control an IEEE-488 interface for electrochemical measurements. - Scientific software: Beilstein and SciFinder; ChemDraw, IsisDraw; Hyperchem, X-Win NMR

Experience

Research Engineer
Yorktown Heights, NY
I functioned as a key thought leader within the organization leading experimental design, synthesizing polymer prototypes and exploring a variety of polymeric and organic materials for their properties and applications to enable scaling to the next generation lithography. I updated products for manufacturing capabilities while collaborating with various departments and companies to develop scientific projects, exploring a wide range of material properties in experimental research to guide overall product development direction. Among my Selected Accomplishments, I: - Synthesized spin-on polymer brushes to modulate coating and interfacial properties of silicon wafers for Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography (EUV) patterning. - Devised and synthesized acid catalysts that were specifically tailored for capture of EUV radiation by incorporation of sensitizer atoms. - Led initiative to develop a PFAA-compliant acid catalyst, eliminating fluorine content to minimize environmental impact, while maintaining UV radiation capture efficiency. Successfully developed comparable acid catalyst, and published paper with findings in 2010. - Conceptualized and executed on development of a near infrared absorbing polymer to mitigate image blur resulting from tool focusing issues due to underlying topography. Synthesized near infrared dyes in close collaboration with two chemists and development engineers and entered into joint agreement with a Japanese partner to encourage mass production. - Assessed and evaluated lithographic formulations and selected leading candidates that later became a point of reference in chip manufacturing processes. My Key Responsibilities included: Project Development | Supplementary Research & Exploration | Experimental Design | Technical Documentation | Technical Information Delivery | Application Research | Vendor Collaboration | Process Improvement
