25 years ago, Dr. Knud Rehfeldt, Axel Albers and Gerhard Gerdes decided to tap into the potential of wind power and turn it into a viable source of energy production. AVITEM Global was the official agent for A&R Special Vessels GmbH in the United States and we were very proud to represent the interest and products of one of the oldest and most renowned shipyards in Europe. Established in 1907, A&R can look back at a history second to none. Eighteen years later, in 1925, the 12th sailing vessel design becomes a commercial success in the United States. 111 yachts (2018) and numerous naval vessels follow and in 1999, the first SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) becomes operational. Since then, the shipyard delivered almost 30 extremely accomplished SWATH@A&R vessels that owe their success to one groundbreaking advantage – unparalleled stability even in high and stormy seas.
