Before my first ministerial appointment, I co-founded the green think tank CONCITO in 2008 and served as the first chairman of the CONCITO board. CONCITO was the first green think tank in Denmark with 90 members from the private sector, scientific field, and civil society. CONCITO deals primarily with developing and promoting new political solutions to decrease the fatal consequences of global warming and lowering greenhouse gases.

From 1996-2001, I worked in an advocacy and strategic communication role on sustainable development and poverty eradication, in close cooperation with international partners in both developed and developing countries.

I was elected to Parliament as a member of the Social-Liberal Party in 2001 and served as spokesman on energy and traffic until 2005. I also coordinated and drafted the Social-Liberal Party’s proposal "Creative Denmark". In 2005, I was re-elected to Parliament and appointed chairman of the Social-Liberal parliamentary group’s strategic committee, among other key positions.
