Bioinformatics support for the development and commercialization of a rapid RNA-Seq library prep kit and analysis software. Bioinformatics support for R&D team during the development of Bio-Rad’s first NGS-related products. Managed R&D team validating antibodies across multiple applications. • Developed a specialized bioinformatics pipeline within an aggressive timeframe of less than a month that enabled evaluation of a new RNA-Seq technology. This initiative resulted in a successful business acquisition that led to the launch of Bio-Rad’s first NGS-related products. • Supported product development by building and deploying (via AWS cloud) bioinformatics pipelines, resulting in the successful commercialization of Bio-Rad’s first RNA-Seq library prep kit. • Managed the R&D team that validated antibodies across multiple applications (phospho-specific detection, flow cytometry), increasing revenue for this product line. • Technical lead on a rapid blocking buffer for Western blotting that surpassed revenue forecasts by ~25%.

Promoted to head the R&D group that launched Bio-Rad’s first line of validated antibodies – this group was responsible for launching >1,300 antibodies across a range of immunoassays. • Led the R&D team responsible for validating antibodies across multiple applications leading to the launch of Bio-Rad’s first line of highly validated research antibodies. • Worked closely with vendors to fill in gaps of our catalog by in-sourcing antibodies, ensuring a full pipeline and efficient use of resources. • Successfully collaborated across diverse business functions to ensure a smooth transfer of products from R&D into Manufacturing. Responsibilities included generating QC specifications and producing website content. • Streamlined antibody validation by developing software tools with Python and creating a MySQL database, allowing accurate tracking of validation and automated processing of data generated.

Generated mammalian cell lines for manufacturing recombinant proteins. Developed assays to support discovery. • Contributed to the Protein Production Division’s business model of licensing cell lines by generating stable CHO cell lines to manufacture various recombinant proteins for therapeutic use. • Implemented a mammalian transient expression system using HEK293 cells for high throughput expression of recombinant proteins and antibodies, reducing timelines for key projects. • Supported improvements in production of a recombinant glycoprotein through scale down of CHO cell culture, clone screening and media development using ambr microscale bioreactor system. • Enabled multiple discovery projects to successfully move forward by developing in vitro and cell-based assays. • Provided analytical support (SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence microscopy) to the Protein Production Division, directly and through training and managing research associates. • Operated and supported flow cytometers (BD Accuri and FACSAria). • One of the first scientists hired in the division, involved in planning the lab, purchasing, and installing critical equipment and hiring, training and directly supervising research associates.
