Since 2007 I have gained experience as a chartered accountant. Working my way up through an accountancy practice from 1999 to 2012 from office junior to audit manager, I am always striving to better myself. I’ve been fortunate to have experienced the challenges of working in accountancy practice, and for the last few years as a Finance Director for an ambitious SME. I love making a difference. Helping an SME transform its operations to become more efficient and demonstrably more productive is something I am immensely proud of being a part of. The experience I gained through practice gave me great insight into many different organisations, their success stories and their challenges. Being privy to this has equipped me with the experience to transfer the knowledge to individual businesses and help them achieve real growth. When I started in my role as FD I worked strategically with Directors across the business to address quality and product profitability. I simplified the management accounts to enable interrogation and forecasting. I am happy with change and actively spearhead opportunities to make improvements across the business; always simplifying processes and communicating simply and consistently. I’ve led negotiations and achieved significant cost-savings through effective relationship management, effective interpersonal skills and harnessing a collaborative approach. I have been fortunate that I have been exposed to the vast majority of the aspects of running an SME including Sales, Operations, Logistics, HR, Procurement, Stock Management and Finance. My experience to date has lead me to have a well-rounded commercial view of how businesses work, where they are failing and how improvements can be made.
