Mark Mathieson MBE

Having built a strong technical and commercial foundation in motorsport and automotive engineering, established through education and experience, I have progressed to the very highest level in motorsport, delivered extraordinarily demanding programmes and succeeded in a personal ambition to rebuild a family business. In 2019 I started a digital technology consulting business (PurpleSector), where the team has now grown to over 60 people working across multiple industry sectors. In the early stages of building this business, I was asked to lead the UK Ventilator Challenge and subsequently continued to support the UK national Covid testing programme by delivering automation solutions. I was honoured to be made an MBE in recognition for my contribution to the Ventilator Programme. Earlier in my career I held the role of Director if Innovation at McLaren Applied Technologies, responsible for the commercialisation of F1 and automotive derived technologies. Previous experience also includes - Chief Engineer for Powertrain at McLaren Automotive, and extremely proud to be a member of the team that founded the car company. Head of the F1 Powertrain Programme for Mercedes-Benz, having had the pleasure to work with the team at Ilmor Engineering prior to our acquisition by Mercedes.
