I have been in the Fixed Ops division of the automotive industry for over 15 years. I have spent over 8 years as a technician with Dodge and Audi. Then I spent 1 year as back counter parts at an Audi dealership before I was transferred to their Porsche dealership. Within 4 months at Porsche parts I took over the department as the new Parts Manager. As the parts manager I maintained a great relationship with service, sales and PCNA (Porsche Cars North America) including several year on the Porsche Round Table. This is when I learned the most about the inner workings of dealerships and manufactures. I learned the importance of turn rates both true and gross. I learned the importance of off the shelf fill rates and the massive chain effect it has on the entire dealership. After about 6 years and a buy-sell; I moved on to learn the service side of Fixed Ops. I am now a service advisor at a Nissan dealership where I have completed the gambit to completely understand everything about the Fixed Ops workings in automotive franchises. I have learned that every dealership and every brand do things a little different and I am quick to adapt.
