Mark Abramenko
Mobile Engineer @ Rhino
About
Engineering leader focused on building execution-ready teams and systems with a strong Flutter background. Implementing new business processes, setting engineering standards, introducing a metrics framework, and integrating it across the team. Comfortable owning budgets, staffing, and presales while staying hands-on with tech. Ex. co-host of the most popular Flutter podcast in Russian, the Flutter Dev Podcast. Background: 8 years in mobile. Started with native Android (Java) and iOS, worked with React Native, and now specialize in Flutter. Former designer with a strong UI/UX sensibility. Since 2021 I’ve led teams (Team Lead → Engineering Manager) and launched a small internal ed-tech product at Surf.

Experience

Head of Flutter
Headed the Flutter development department where I had previously worked for 4 years. Accountable for technical leadership, budgeting, and resourcing. - Developed and implemented engineering standards, including a reference architecture, code quality standards, and security guidelines (delivered a talk at Mobius). - Introduced quality gates across 9 projects: static code analysis, tests, and mandatory code reviews. - Increased the share of projects with stable Jenkins CI/CD pipelines from 10% to 100%. - Researched and rolled out coding-with-AI-agent practices: built PoCs, delivered lectures, and provided 1:1 training.

Engineering Manager
- Developed and rolled out a company-wide performance review process covering 200+ employees. - Documented the process for individualized development plans (IDPs) for 30+ engineers. - Created mentoring programs for 7 aspiring team leads, enabling the department to scale and launch new projects. - Integrated regular technical retrospectives within the department, increasing project transparency. - Standardized and implemented the end-to-end process for designing and launching new projects. - Designed and deployed processes to track, manage, and assess technical debt across projects. - Built an audit framework with scoring and concrete remediation steps, turning it into a standalone company service. - Introduced GitHub Copilot into development workflows in 2023. - Launched an internship program—10+ graduates progressed to Middle level. - Added live-coding with practical tasks to the hiring process, reducing the rate of mis-hires.

Product Owner
Launched a paid Flutter course under the Surf brand; trained 100+ students. - Secured executive buy-in and funding; provided ongoing financial reporting throughout the project. - Designed the course blueprint, including difficulty curve, module sequencing, and content formats. - Managed a three-person content team plus mentors, instructors, and external vendors (learning platform, course operations manager, landing-page development). - Engaged with early customers, gathered feedback, analyzed metrics, and iterated the program accordingly.

Flutter Team Lead
- Led "The Hole" development team during a rapid growth phase (~200k MAU). Shipped major features: Picture-in-Picture, ad roll integration, and launches on Apple TV and Chromecast. Worked hands-on with AVFoundation/ExoPlayer, HLS, and FFmpeg. - Led "Izzi" development team. A team of four shipped the first version in three months. Introduced mandatory screenshot tests (90% coverage at release) and established reliable CI/CD pipelines. - Led development of an e-commerce app (NDA; apparel retail chain). A three-person team with an average level of Junior+ delivered the first version in three months, achieving strong client satisfaction.

Mobile Engineer
Mentalstack
Taganrog, Rostov, Russia
- Developed a Flutter application from scratch, demonstrating proficiency in the Flutter framework and mobile application development. - Gained experience in iOS app development using Swift through self-guided learning. - Successfully integrated Platform View and Method Channel modules into an existing Flutter application on both Android and iOS platforms.

Flutter Tech Lead
Taganrog, Rostov, Russia
- Spearheaded the company’s adoption of Flutter by delivering the first project hands-on. - Hired 8 developers, building the company’s largest Flutter practice team. - Mentored 4 interns and cross-trained 2 experienced engineers from other tech stacks. - Designed and launched 4 new projects (e-commerce and travel). - Built a Flutter white-label solution for airlines (4 vendors; NDA): designed a multi-module architecture.
