I teach Commerce & Culture to a group of students from the NYU Stern School of Business, who come to London for a year.

Teaching on the MA Journalism & a BA course on visual culture in the department of film, media and cultural studies at the School of Arts

I was in charge of a monthly personal finance supplement at the i, covering life goals, pensions, investments, the financial concerns of single mothers and more.

I wrote the markets pages of the magazine, contributed to company pages, as well as writing features.

I wrote daily news and features at Money Observer - formerly part of The Guardian’s Observer - for a large national consumer audience. As the only staff writer at the magazine, I covered everything from investments to retirement policy, the economy, housing and Brexit. My features are characterised by a “critical edge, hands-on advice and a depth of research,” according to the jury of the Santander Media Awards. In my column, Marina’s Monetary Musings, I took a philosophical/ psychological view of money. My responsibilities included the creation, editing and formatting of a 8/10 page section of the magazine.

I submitted my thesis in 2015 after 3.5 years of in-depth research on cosmopolitanism and the media. Supervised by Professor Terhi Rantanen, I combined theories from communications, anthropology, social psychology and sociology to explain how globalisation has changed journalism. While writing my PhD, I taught master students on LSE's MSc Double Degree in Global Media and International Journalism summer school. In 2014, I was invited to be a visiting scholar at Columbia University’s sociology department in New York. My thesis was funded by the Gerhard C Starck scholarship, and I won LSE’s graduate studentship, an ELES prize, and a Travel Fund.

I was on The Economist's Intelligent Life editorial team based in the London. I wrote features and comments on culture and society and assisted the team with researching feature subjects, sourcing material, proofreading pages, fielding phone calls and other other ad-hoc tasks. I subsequently became a freelance contributor at the magazine.

I provided research on how dissident views and political scandals in Russia find expression on social media. My research was part of the Oxford University project on "Media and Democracy in Central and Eastern Europe" funded by the European Research Council.

I was the voice of Manchester University's student radio station, recording jingles and announcements, and making appearances on live shows.
