About
I am an a passionate of insurance industry and I love joining business transformation programes to deliver customers with lean and simple services supported by digitalisation. With 20 years experience in the industry and using my financial and strategy skills, I contribute to business development from different angles by identifying opportunities and areas of improvement. My initial 10 years of profesional career as auditor and consultant in the insurance industry provided me with a robust financial background both on Life and P&C business, that was culminated with the launch of a new line of business in EY Spain. The experience I got and the methodology I learnt at that time allows me to manage the financials of an insurance company, but also lead teams and maximise its performance, keep them highly motivated towards clear targets and manage their development and growth. Following 10 years I am involved in transformation programs of two digital insurers (Spain and Japan) from CFO positions of 3 entities (Spain, Portugal and Japan). This experience allowed me to connect finance to business more intensively and contribute as business partner at same time than defining the strategy. Working closely with the CEOs of the entities at the same time than doing listenings in our call centers to well understand our customers´ needs. In the finance area, I encourage my team to contribute to business with its specific skills and access to data. Under my management, holistic business dashboards are produced to provide good visibility about business performance and areas of improvements, both topline and bottom line, bringing it for discussion with business areas. In addition, finding solutions to optimise the capital with M&A transactions to manage the company with light capital structures (led the merger and branching processes of 3 insurance companies from 3 different countries in Southern Europe). Both transformation programs delivered successful outputs: - First one, moving to double digit growth after the transformation, improving loss ratio by -5pts in four years while materialising efficiency savings from transformation to improve the combined ratio by 8pts in four years. At same time, increasing employee engagement and becoming best in class in technical areas. - Second one, still ongoing, with 10% productivity gains in first year, reduction of expenses from analogical era by 25% and with the technology up to date to boost the growth, upstreaming dividend to shareholder with a RoE above 20%.
