Mariam Odetallah

I’m a PhD candidate in Chemistry at the University of Manitoba, specializing in electrochemistry and lithium-ion battery research. My work focuses on visualizing microstructural evolution in composite electrodes using advanced techniques like SECM, IL-TEM, and XPS. I recently completed an internship at Tesla, where I contributed to scaling a wastewater treatment process for cathode precursor production — improving treatment efficiency from 25% to 96%. This experience helped me bridge academic innovation with industrial application. I’ve co-authored peer-reviewed publications, presented at 15+ national and international conferences, and mentored students across multiple battery-related projects. I’m also actively involved in scientific communities as Vice President of the ECS Manitoba Student Chapter and as a volunteer organizer for research symposia. I’m passionate about advancing sustainable energy technologies and am actively exploring opportunities in R&D, materials innovation, and electrochemical diagnostics — both in industry and academia.
