Marek Miara

Dr.-Ing. Marek Miara is a leading heat pump expert whose career has been shaped by over 22 years at Fraunhofer ISE. His career is defined by the combination of scientific depth, strategic management, and outstanding communication talent. He is currently working as "Business Developer Heat Pumps." He laid his academic foundation with master's degrees from Wrocław University of Science and Technology (2000) and the University of Kassel (2004), and completed his doctorate in 2014 at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. He was responsible for international EU projects and, as "Operating Agent," led the IEA HPT Projects 50 and 62, which intensively dealt with the global application of heat pumps in multi-family buildings. Nationally, he is active as the Curator of the Heat Pump and Refrigeration Technology research field within the BMWK Energy Research Network. He serves as Vice Chairman of the German Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association (DKV), is a board member of the European Heat Pump Association (ehpa), and a co-founder of the Polish Heat Pump Association (PORT PC). Furthermore, he contributes his knowledge as a member of Scientists for Future Germany. As a sought-after speaker, moderator, and explainer, he uses his broad media experience (numerous appearances on television, radio, and in the press) to communicate complex technical facts from research in a target-group-oriented and understandable manner. This outstanding ability to create trust and clarity is the core of his mission to promote the fact-based heating transition. His exceptional commitment and influence on market development have been honored multiple times: These include the Renergy Award in the category "Outstanding Personality in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency," the award from the Polish Heat Pump Association PORTPC for his contribution to the market development of heat pumps in Poland, and the "Trendsetter" prize (2023) from the GLOBEnergia organization for his significant influence on the energy and construction sectors.
