Mardis Coers - - Digital Artist

I've been fortunate to have had interesting, challenging, and various occupations. My pursuits have included being a U.S. Navy jet pilot, an Environmental Scientist with the State of California's EPA, and currently a Contributing Photographer with Getty Images. Besides the Creative and Editorial photos that I have with Getty, I like to take some of my photos and "mess them up to make them better." The finished image looking like something between that of a painting and a photo. I also try to make each image have a different style or look about it, so it's no accident that "my style is no style at all." The varied experiences and skills that I have learned from my various occupations have helped me learn technical disciplines and have allowed me to take a unique approach to creative solutions in areas that involve photography and creating artwork. [Click on the small Thumbnails in the Experience section below to view my photos with Getty Images that were used by the New York Times, National Geographic, and NBC News.] In January 2012, I was invited by Getty to be one of the original group of 15 -20 Contributing Photographers worldwide to use our smartphones (mine was an iPhone 4S) to take photos and then to submit some of those images to be curated for Getty's catalog of photos. The photo collection was called the Getty Images Flickr Mobile. Several of my iPhone photos were and have been subsequently selected for inclusion with Getty Images.
