Marcus Buschmann

Marcus Vinicius Buschmann has more than 25 years of experience and excellence. Buschmann has a Master in Tax Law (M.Sc), Former Professor of Civil Law Procedure at Candido Mendes University , Author of many legal articles. Marcus is also a Certified Data Protection Officer (DPO). He has extensive practice in help foreigner companies and entrepreneurs to do business in Brazil and Latin America, acting as General Counsel and General Manager of Companies starting in Brazil, such as Ghenova Engineering, CT Engineering, Desnivel Construction, SML Ltd - Agrochemical, China Chengda Engineering, ASIME and many others. Buschmann is appointed as Highly Regarded Lawyer by International Financial Law Review(IFLR1000) and appointed by Best Lawyers publication as one of the best lawyers in Brazil. Marcus also advises several associations and entities, taking prominent roles in some of them. He was the legal counsel of the Brazil-Russia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism from 2003 to 2011. He is also legal counsel at the Brazilian Naval Construction and Repair Industry and Offshore Syndicate (SINAVAL) since 2008. In 2013/2014 Marcus had a great experience participating in a cooperation agreement with Haynes and Boone LLP helping US and Brazilian Companies in cross-border transactions. Buschmann helped ABENAV - Brazilian Shipbuilding and Offshore Companies Association - as Vice-President from 2013-2016 and is the current President for South America at Adam Global

In my role at Corten Shipping, I effectively managed legal and administrative tasks for the Brazilian subsidiary, ensuring smooth operations and compliance of this Shipping Services Company. I successfully opened banking accounts and registered capital infusions, which were crucial for the company’s financial stability. Additionally, I linked the company to key suppliers and provided essential legal advice, significantly contributing to the subsidiary's growth and operational efficiency.

At Haynes and Boone, I played a crucial role in establishing a partnership with my local legal firm, facilitating smoother market entry for our clients in Brazil as well for Brazilian clients in US. My responsibilities included offering strategic legal guidance and managing essential administrative functions, which significantly strengthened our clients' positions in cross-border transactions.

ABENAV Mission: 1. Follow the pre-salt implementation and exploration in all phases: regulation, Technological and etc. 2. Encourage new players in the domestic market to increase technology to fulfill the local content. 3. Help the local companies to be competitive 4. Represent the sector before the Government as to the negotiation of tax benefits, financing and others. 5. Direct connection with the Brazilian shipyards, local suppliers and the local content (regulation, percentage and others).
