• 30 years hands-on & managerial experience within electronic product R&D - mainly high voltage testing and diagnostic systems for electric power transmission and distribution utilities • Many of those years were spent leading the development of the specialised power systems simulation algorithms, real-time firmware, and power electronics systems within Protection Relay test sets • Nowadays working as a consultant (Fractional CTO & Product Development Leader) - I have helped many well-known manufacturers as well as startups from several countries in building and leading design teams and taking product concepts through every stage of development, typically within the HV testing sector but sometimes much further afield • Some of the many electric utility testing products I've helped realise include: VLF/AC/DC cable & insulation testers to 100 kV (including TD & PD diagnostics), portable and factory testing systems for large power transformers (SFRA, turns-ratio, winding-resistance, tap-changer DRM, demag), precision AC power & PQ analysers, switchgear timing/travel/dynamic-resistance, standby battery/BESS capacity testers to 20 kW, AC & DC primary current injection to 10 kA, and multi-phase secondary injection testers (energy meter testing, protection relay testing, power system simulators)
