Marcie Brandriff
Grant Writer/Researcher
About
I worked in public libraries as a reference librarian for about 15 years upon earning my Master’s of Library Science. After taking time as a stay-at-home mom, I offered to help some friends raise funds for their new nonprofit organization by writing grants. In the years since, I have worked with several other organizations, four of which are listed below. I tend to work with small arts organizations, where submitting applications not only increases the possibility of funding but also raises the visibility of the organization to the funder or grant committee. Success in grant awards can be a lengthy process, but I am willing to stay with an organization for as long as needed. My experience as a librarian honed my research, critical thinking, and evaluation skills. Grant-writing is a career shift in which I use those skills plus my writing and organizing abilities to focus on researching and evaluating grant possibilities, then to apply for funding on behalf of organizations that are important to the community. Besides writing grant applications, I am also available for research. My interests are generally arts, specifically music, and youth, but other issues are also of interest.
