Makenna Peevey
Brand Manager @ H-E-B
About
I’m passionate about bringing products that serve Texans to shelf. As an Own Brand Manager at H‑E‑B, I work on developing private label items that families across Texas bring into their homes every day. It’s incredibly meaningful to be part of creating products that customers trust and that reflect the quality and innovation H-E-B is known for. I’m proud to work for a company that lives out its values of Heart for People, Head for Business, and Passion for Results, and to contribute to work that has a real impact on communities across the state. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Animal Science and minors in Agribusiness Entrepreneurship and AgriFood Sales. My background in agriculture continues to shape my passion for the food industry and the people it serves.

Experience

Undergraduate Research Assistant
College Station, Texas, United States
Assisted with preparing/analyzing samples for Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) testing. Additionally, I processed and analyzed the data using Microsoft Excel and JMP software and drafted the information into research papers. I completed my own project studying the impact of feeding high-antioxidant (anthocyanin) diets to lambs and the impact on the color, sensory characteristics, and flavor chemistry (aromatics) of lamb chops. I placed first for this research project at the Undergraduate Research Competition during the 2021 American Meat Science Association (AMSA) Reciprocal Meats Conference.

Teaching Assistant for the Rister '74 Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program
Texas A&M Department of Agricultural Economics
College Station, Texas, United States
I started as a member of the teaching team for the AGEC 324, Entrepreneurial Budgeting, class. In this class, students utilized a series of spreadsheets, along with a case study, to run an economic analysis on a single enterprise business. After AGEC 324, students will have the opportunity to take AGEC 424, Economic Analysis, and AGEC 425, Financial Analysis, to create their own business plans. This program allows students to connect with mentors, develop a written project, present a professional business pitch, and have access many more opportunities. I taught AGEC 424 and 425 as well which allowed me to meet 1:1 with six students for 2+ hours each week outside of class. I would coach the students through the financial spreadsheets and provide feedback on the written assignment. Other responsibilities included answering questions in class, creating assignments, holding office hours and informational sessions, participating in team meetings, and assisting in other classes as needed.

Meat Procurement Intern
Worked on various projects within the Meat Procurement Department at H-E-B with a main focus on Animal Welfare and Environmental Stewardship. The goal of the project was to study existing research, conduct customer insight surveys, and ultimately present recommendations to leadership.
