Mahmoud Shabana

I am an aspiring Cybersecurity Researcher with a focus on reverse engineering, penetration testing, and machine learning for cybersecurity. I received a MS in Software Engineering, a BS in Software Engineering with a minor in Computer Science and Physics, and recently received an MS in Cybersecurity at NYU Tandon. I am a first generation Arab-American and the first member of my family to receive a college degree. I am truly grateful of my accomplishments, as I know that my parents made many sacrifices to encourage me to pursue an education. My degree is my way of living the dreams and aspirations of my parents and thanking them for all they have done to get me to this point in my life. My growth in education has not only been shaped in the classroom, but also on the football field as a former All-Conference player of a Division 1 football program. I hope to direct my career towards software security, artificial intelligence and the intersection of AI and Cyber. It is my goal to take part of a new generation of smarter, faster, and more secure applications for users around the world, but also pay it forward to the generations that follow. Through volunteering as an SAT tutor for high-schoolers and teaching the younger generations the benefits of programming, I am able to directly interact with the future generation and foster their interests in technology. I am confident that I will be successful. I think out of the box, I work well as part of a team, and I am very competitive.
