Maged Henary

My objective is to remain at the forefront of my field, NIR Small Molecules! I'm an expert chemist and specialize in organic synthesis. My lab focuses on synthesizing and developing small molecules and fluorophores to be used in various applications. With the specialization on several NIR-I and NIR-II dye scaffolds, Carbocyanines, Squaraine, Rhodamine, BODIPY, Donor-Acceptor fluorophores, etc. I have developed multiple upper-level courses and undergraduate and graduate lab manuals that successfully educate students on organic chemistry synthesis and mechanisms. In addition, I have mentored hundreds of students and aided them in their transition from college to career. I have dedicated my career to GSU and helped the Chemistry Department grow and flourish. I have achieved this by working in many administrative roles to improve the chemistry experience at GSU, such as student advisors and multitudes of committees.
