I have been working in the Telecommunication Industry for the past 16 years. I have had the opportunity of working as Lead Planning and Optimization Engineer for Ericsson (Malawi and Zambia), Senior Network Quality and Performance Engineer and currently as Lead Radio Access Network (RAN) Engineer for Operations at Bharti Airtel Zambia. In my current role, I lead the daily review operation meeting with Managed Service providers of the Radio Access Network composed of over 1,500 co-located 2G/3G/4G Ericsson and Nokia Radio Stations, 16 Ericsson and Nokia BSC, 11 Ericsson and Nokia RNCs. I lead the RAN operation team in the new site acceptance process during the Transfer To Operations (TTO) and Post Change Validation (PCV) process using the acceptance criteria procedure to ensure all KPIs are within contractual thresholds for improved performance. Using the ENM and NetAct Monitoring tools, I troubleshoot various degraded Network performance, checking KPIs, parameters and Counters and ensure that reported alarms and incidents are resolved. Using the Worst cell list, I coordinate the analysis of Radio KPIs for all technologies, 2G/3G/4G analyzing network’s capacity and coverage, and looking for ways to make improvements. It is this unique combined skillsets and experiences of working in Network Operations, Quality Performance and Radio Planning and Optimization that can leverage my abilities and to be part of a diverse network of people driven by a deliberate focus on customer satisfaction and believe that unique and different perspectives and skills create better outcomes. I bring my skillsets and experiences of working with both Ericsson and Nokia UTRAN and EUTRAN, Ericsson Network Manager (ENM), Nokia Net-Act and my recent training in Nokia EdenNet and in Radio Network Monitoring and Performance to pull, and analyze, near real-time performance data from the UTRAN and EUTRAN to support outage recovery and Radio Network performance troubleshooting.

I designed and implemented the Radio frequency plans and link budgets for rural sites in the Network Capacity Project in Malawi and Zambia. o I made simulations and Predictive analysis using Planning tools such as Planet Ev with MapInfo for the new sites that had been surveyed for both Microwave links and Radio to minimize the Core and Adjacent (C/A) frequency interference and to understand the impact on the existing sites. o I led the team in providing coverage impact assessment analysis using Planet Ev planning tool. o I analyzed drive test data of Tems investigation for monitoring, benchmarking analysis and optimization after new site integration to understand impact on existing sites. o I led the team in analysis of Radio performance issues such as Drops, Interference, Handovers and call-set up and tuned various parameters to enhance Radio Network performance o I lead the team in the installation and integration of new Microwave links and sites during the Network Capacity upgrades. o I led the Network Performance review meetings to formulate weekly and daily work programs, and assess the quality and effectiveness of proposed scope of works on the Network. o I planned, supervised and implemented routine optimization activities (For both Zambia and Malawi) of the Radio Network system to meet the operational objectives and to fulfil the needs of the business. o I Prepared and presented documentation and reports to senior management and customer of the optimized Network status during the capacity expansion projects in Malawi and Zambia and provided substantive reviews and technical assessments of the impact of the increased capacity sites on the existing network. o I led the planning and Optimization team during the Capacity expansion project in Malawi and Zambia and ensured the installations, configuration and integration implementation was as provided in the solution design document.

The concepts from this course will honor my understanding of the LTE concept, the challenges in its deployment and an insight into the current market position. Furthermore, to have a detailed understanding of Long Term Evolution, and a good degree of specialization of the the ever evolving digital convergence.
