Luísa Tavares
Intern II - Technology @ Bridge & Co.
About
iam a Computer Science student at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), class of 2026, driven by the goal of advancing my career through technology every day. Throughout my academic journey, in addition to the theoretical knowledge I've gained, I have participated in extracurricular activities that were crucial for my growth as a developer. My first professional programming experience was with the Junior Enterprise Movement (MEJ) at CatiJR, where I contributed as a backend developer, gained experience with the Agile Scrum methodology, and honed my theoretical software skills in a practical setting. Shortly after, I was awarded a FAPESP-funded scholarship for a research project, which not only fostered immense professional growth by applying theory to practice but also enhanced my communication, organization, responsibility, and leadership skills. +55 14 99817-7504 luisatavares2020@gmail.com || luisatavares@estudante.ufscar.br

Experience

Machine Learning & Deep Learning Mentor
São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil
As a Mentor for the Machine Learning + Deep Learning study group, I am responsible for structuring the entire learning journey for its members, while also actively participating in the studies and hands-on projects. • As a mentor, I designed and implemented a full semester-long curriculum to guide the group's studies. My responsibilities include organizing and verifying deliverables, defining weekly study topics, managing member attendance and participation, and leading alignment and technical discussion sprints. • The structure I created is based on organization, engagement, collaboration, and the blend of theoretical study with practical application in real-world projects. Parallel to my mentorship role, I participate as a student to deepen my theoretical knowledge and practical skills through active engagement in the group: • Developing notebooks to apply concepts such as Linear Regression, Classification, Tree-Based Models, and Neural Networks. • Completing two major projects throughout the semester, one focused on Classic Machine Learning and the other on Deep Learning. • Contributing to the production of a video mini-course, explaining technical topics didactically for other students.

Backend Software Engineer (FAPESP Scholar)
São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil
• Responsible for the entire backend development lifecycle for a medical image processing platform (DICOM/NIfTI), from the initial architecture and database modeling to deployment and maintenance in a production environment. • Implemented a scalable RESTful API with NestJS and TypeScript, following layered architecture best practices (Controllers, Services, Repositories). • Developed complex business logic, including a service execution system with dependency management, automatic image preprocessing, and caching of previously executed services. • Integrated the system with the Orthanc DICOM manager via API requests, connecting through a Docker container. • Structured the production environment on a Linux server, using Docker and Docker Compose to orchestrate the application's containers (PostgreSQL, Orthanc), and configured Nginx as a reverse proxy for the Node.js application, managed by PM2 for deployments. • Evolved from initial contributions to the technical leadership of the backend team, taking responsibility for code reviews (pull requests), onboarding new members, restructuring the database, and making critical system architecture decisions. • Ensured code quality and maintainability through end-to-end testing with Jest and comprehensive API documentation with Swagger (OpenAPI).

Software Developer
São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil
• Developed web applications and mobile apps using Node.js for the backend and React for the frontend, with code integration and versioning through GitLab. • Developed and consumed external APIs. • Applied the Agile Scrum methodology for project management.

Trainee
São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil
• Participated in training on the company's tech stack for web and mobile application development. • Acted as a Backend Developer in the trainee project, which involved building an API for a web application that consumed an external movie catalog API. • Applied the Scrum methodology with weekly sprints for project development. ° Utilized Technologies ° Node.js TypeScript Docker GitLab
Education

BS, Computer Science, Information Technology
This degree has been fundamental to my theoretical development and has greatly enhanced my logical reasoning and problem-solving skills. It introduced me to key concepts in the tech field, such as asymptotic analysis, data structures, and machine learning. • It has provided me with opportunities to develop scientific and academic projects in technology, and to participate in hackathons, competitive programming, data science groups, and web development groups.

Administration, Business and Marketing
This course contributed significantly to my personal development. Although I pursued a career in technology, I still leverage the soft skills developed here daily. It taught me how to work in a team, deal with people, lead, be instructed, understand hierarchies, and build a positive corporate environment, as well as my obligations and responsibilities within a production pipeline, among many other things. My final thesis specialized in Neuro-Marketing and how mental triggers influence a consumer's purchasing decision process; it is available on my LinkedIn Projects.

Information Technology
This course was where my interest in programming began while I was still in high school. It was my first encounter with web development using HTML and CSS, where I developed various websites, from the simplest to more complex ones, also exercising my design skills. The final project consisted of creating a complete website in WordPress and publishing it. The course was very important in my journey to better understand the world of programming and gain a solid foundation in Frontend development.
