Leadership of the operations, and 80+ persons, enveloping the equipment installation, process and production ramp-up of manufacturing lines. Planning and financial control of the operations involved in manufacturing, maintenance and facility. Recruitment and training of the technical staff: maintenance & shift leaders. Setup the production structure and key performance indicators for the manufacturing of crystalline PV modules (TUV-IEC, AENOR-IEC, CSA-UL certified).

International project management. Leadership of a team of 17 test engineers dedicated to the activities encompassing Mixed-Signal IP cores testing (silicon validation). Plus of 50 international projects successfully executed for high-profile customers: Microsoft, Sony, Philips, Toshiba, M-systems, CERN, Atmel, etc. Together with the quality dept. devised actions aiming qualification of testing methodology to cope with internal IP core design units (ISO9001, granted in Jun03). Development of the corporative performance appraisal scheme from scratch. Development of the Key Account unit linking Sales & Engineering Areas, Pre-sales leads and Fab Access to worldwide semiconductors foundries: Tower Semiconductor (Israel), UMC and TSMC (Taiwan).

Evaluation and change management of state owned business unit in the field of electrical installation and industrial maintenance aiming its privatisation. Introduction of Balanced Score Cards. Assessment of company operations and economical background. Diagnosis of the organisation resources and capabilities to match new market environment.

400/year access floor tiles production and installation (wood, stone tiles mounted over metallic frames) for office, cultural, banking and telecommunications facilities. Contract management, coordination of subcontractors service. Extension of the ISO9002 quality procedures to the field service area.

R&D and prototyping within technology transfer contracts in national and international projects. Partnership with local companies and international organisations: Efacec SA, Renova, 3M, Philips Research Laboratories, Storage Tek, Thomson, Atmel, Siemens, Silmag and Matra. Successful process deployment of IMEC (Leuven, Belgium) 1.2um DML (double-metal-layer) process to fabricate first portuguese chips. Development of Direct Write Laser lithography tool to fabricate optical and magnetic devices (spin valves based on giant magnetoresistance properties) to compete with IBM group. Co-authorship in 9 scientific papers published in relevant conferences.

Philips BV and New University of Lisboa – Industrial Research. Development of experimental setup at Philips, Eindhoven, CFT (circuit fabrication technology) to evaluate electrical properties of flexible conductive adhesives - 3M (USA) and Sekisui (Japan). Invited by Philips later to carry on previous work. Project partners: Daimler Benz and Siemens (Germany), Multicore Solders (UK) and New University of Lisbon (P). Fellowship at Univ.Nantes and University Assistant – R&D to develop pc-controlled experimental setups for the characterisation of amorphous silicon thin films (Photovoltaics). Results: Seven scientific papers, presented in international conferences. A Phd thesis and a scientific project used obtained data and characterisation technique. Development of a gas discharge simulator tool during the fellowship at University of Nantes
