• Avisyn provides in-house staffing solutions (insourcing) for drug discovery R&D and drug development. As a process chemist embedded with a project team, I work alongside the client's scientists and senior associates, supporting various aspects of process research and development of lead compounds.

• Developed synthetic routes utilizing scientific and technical information found in literature. • Optimized the synthetic route for an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) that will be applied to the future GMP manufacture of the drug substance. • Successfully demonstrated key synthetic modifications to the manufacturing process of a Phase 2 clinical candidate. • Use of/familiarization with analytical techniques DSC, TGA, XRPD. • Identified and synthesized LC/MS markers and impurities of an API manufacturing campaign. • Proficient use of vertical reactors to mimic ‘plant-like’ manufacturing conditions and optimize chemistry. • Technology transfer of synthetic routes to contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs). • Partnerships with CMOs to manufacture multi-kilogram quantities of API for toxicological and clinical batches.

• Prepared high quality compounds by interpreting the SAR and identifying lead compounds with desirable selectivity and DMPK characteristics which led to a collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim. • Initiated trial of flow chemistry hydrogenation (H-Cube) for the department, which subsequently demonstrated clear advantages in terms of faster reaction times, reduced solvent waste, and enhanced reaction safety leading to investment and wide uptake in this technology. • Responsible for safe operation and upkeep of hydrogenation equipment. Carried out routine maintenance of lyophilizer and vacuum pumps enabling continuous operation leading to operational cost savings.

• Synthesized key building blocks to support multiple medicinal chemistry campaigns. • Investigated, created and developed new synthetic methodology and technical improvements that led to process routes for Ralinepag and Etrasimod two compounds currently in phase II clinical trials. • Worked on a wide variety of small molecule projects from early hit-to-lead to late lead optimization. • Appointed safety officer for laboratory. Organized and maintained laboratory for maximum productivity and safety.

• Synthesized multigrams of a key compound that ultimately led to the discovery and nomination of Etrasimod (APD334) as a next generation, highly specific modulator of the sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor (currently in phase II clinical trials). • Designed, synthesized novel bioactive molecules for the discovery of a chemically unique backup compound to Etrasimod. • Collaborated in the development and scale-up of a enantiospecific synthesis for a backup compound to Etrasimod.

• Employed parallel synthetic techniques to rapidly advance med chem objectives. • Prepared multigrams of key building block used to make multiple compounds in parallel. • Developed chiral HPLC methods to separate key compounds for S1P1 receptor. • Communicated results to co-workers and management in both oral and written manner and assisted in the preparation of patent applications. • Summarized and presented work at bi-weekly group meetings.

• Assisted in implementing innovative glove box technology and utilized this technology to ensure stringent conditions for sensitive metallation reactions. • Synthesized a wide range of quality organic compounds by applying structure-based drug design principles for potential drug candidate by implementing new innovative combinatorial chemistry technology.

• Carried out synthetic procedures for all libraries concerning production of small molecules. • Maintained all laboratory equipment, updated hardware and software applications for run compatibility in compliance with company protocols.

• Trained 12 non chemists to work in a production lab and make over 20,000 compounds a year. • Properly programmed and operated lab equipments such as multiprobe robotic liquid handler.

• Developed optimal conditions for yield and purity in multi-step, multi-component reactions. (solvent, temperature, time, concentration, base and reactant scope studied). • Wrote procedures and protocols to be used in preparing exploratory and targeted compound libraries throughout multiple Pfizer sites.

• Assisted in establishing Quality Assurance Laboratory for Forbes No. 1 Small Company for 1996. • Helped in designing, development and implementation of a Microsoft ACCESS database system that encompassed retrieval of laboratory data and analysis of such data. • Assured the quality of new batches of surgical gloves met ISO 9000 quality standard
