Student Intern for Research Methods of Physiological Psychology: My job was to assist the professor throughout the course, which included intensive lab work investigating the role of dopamine in anxiety-like and depression-like behaviors in rats. I coordinated the research that students in the course would be doing to ensure understanding and efficiency in their learning of behavioral assays and physiology of the brains of the rats. I helped organize scheduling, oversaw assays and perfusions and assisted with the statistical analyses and data interpretation for final manuscripts.

Intern researching modifiable lifestyle factors (physical activity, obesity and nutrition) as well as built-environment and how these factors affect the risk for breast cancer in women, with the larger goal of contributing to the California State Cancer Prevention Plan by conducting scoping reviews of all present research into these factors. Research has also included comparisons between every current state plan for cancer prevention, as well as using current literature to update the BCPP website (https://www.bcpp.org/our-work/core-science/- my work is under glossary of exposures).

Five summers of managing a garden center and a gardening crew, overseeing workers and making purchasing and sales decisions.

Veterinary Intern: Worked alongside veterinarians to provide care to horses in an equine hospital. Jobs included administering medications and bi-hourly physical assessments including rectal temperatures, heart and respiratory rates, capillary reactivity and gut sounds. Also worked in the lab examining parasitic egg count in fecal matter and testing blood samples for various infections.
