Speaker & Workshop Leader | Leadership, Performance & Human Capacity

About

I speak and lead workshops for founders, executives, and decision-makers navigating complex environments—where clarity, energy, and decision quality directly shape outcomes. My work sits at the intersection of leadership, human performance, and organizational effectiveness.Because the ability to think clearly, stay steady under pressure, and lead effectively isn’t just mental—it’s physiological—and it shows up in how people operate, communicate, and execute.—My perspective is grounded in lived experience.I’ve built and operated health and performance businesses, served as Chief Operating Officer in a growth-stage biotech company, taught at the university level both undergraduate and graduate, and worked closely with leaders making high-stakes decisions.I understand what it means to:• Carry operational weight• Translate vision into execution• Lead under pressure• Navigate uncertainty and growth• Make decisions that affect outcomes across teams and organizations—My background integrates business strategy with training in physiology, nutrition, and genetics.Over time, this has led to a central idea that shapes my thesis:Leadership capacity is biological.—Today, I primarily work with organizations through:• Keynotes and speaking engagements on leadership, clarity, and performance in complex environments• Workshops and team sessions focused on decision-making, energy, and sustained capacity• Select advisory partnerships with founders and leadership teams, supporting alignment, execution, and organizational clarity—I’m the host of the podcast Leadership, Life, Health & Happiness, recognized by Spotify among the top 10% of podcasts globally for listener engagement, where I explore leadership, performance, and the human side of decision-making.I’m also the author of Eat to Lead, based on over 20 years of work in physiology, nutrition, and leadership.—If you’re building something meaningful—and want your people thinking clearly, leading well, and operating at a high level—I’m always open to a conversation.

I speak and lead workshops for organizations and leadership teams navigating high levels of responsibility, complexity, and change. My work focuses on strengthening the biological foundations of leadership performance—because the ability to think clearly, make sound decisions, and lead effectively under pressure is not just mental, it’s physiological. Through keynotes and interactive sessions, I help leaders: • Improve clarity and decision-making under pressure • Stabilize energy and focus across demanding environments • Strengthen leadership presence and communication • Build sustainable performance without burnout I also engage in select advisory and consulting with founders and leadership teams. My approach integrates business strategy with physiology, nutrition, and human performance—translating science into practical, real-world application. This work is especially relevant for teams operating in fast-moving, high-stakes environments where leadership capacity directly impacts outcomes. You can learn more at: http://LuciGabel.com

Eat to Lead

Eat to Lead

2020-10 - Present · 6 yrs

Author of Eat to Lead, exploring the connection between food, biology, and leadership performance. Based on over 20 years of professional and academic work in physiology, nutrition, and human performance, the book examines how what we eat directly influences energy, clarity, and decision-making. Rather than focusing on extremes or quick fixes, Eat to Lead offers a grounded perspective on how daily food choices support the biological systems that drive how we think, feel, and lead. This work reflects a central idea that continues across my speaking and workshops: Leadership performance is not separate from human biology. The concepts in Eat to Lead often serve as a foundation for conversations in organizational settings around clarity, performance, and sustainable leadership.

I have leadership experience in private companies, the US Department of defense, as an entrepreneur and a VC-funded startup founder. My partnership, directorship, and leadership roles—in cities across the U.S. and Asia—have given me extensive experience in organizational development and change management for companies of many sizes, in all points of the lifecycle. I'm known for fostering cultures of trust and open communication. Three of my greatest strengths are resourcefulness and agility, and an unwavering ability to maintain calm and poise in stressful situations. Two things I enjoy immensely are delivering workshops and events for learning and growth.

Along with leadership, I have strong skills, and a lifetime of training and experience in human health: physiology, nutrition, genetics and neuroscience. I've held both leadership and professional positions in the health club and spa industry as well as cardiac, joint and cancer rehab and have had my own business as well as a VC-funded startup in the health industry. Throughout my career I've coached clients and lead classes related to health and performance. Through these means I’ve helped clients dramatically improve their health, which improved their performance in life and work. Specifically, I've helped people to surmount obesity, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and cancer, to name a few. I've also worked with athletes of many ages and sports. My recently published book (Eat to Lead, October 2020) is one example of how health and leadership go hand in hand, and is an overview of my experience and how I've helped hundreds of people including C-level executives, entrepreneurs, military officers and royalty.
