Senior Scientist @ LTZ Therapeutics

About

I am an immunologist with 9 years of experience in modeling immune cell biology and cell-cell interactions using primary and human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)-derived cells. 9 years of experience using CRISPR/Cas9 for gene editing in hPSC and mammalian cell lines, including guide RNA design, homology directed template design, transfection of cells, clonal expansion, and clone screening for knockouts, edits, and maintained pluripotency. Most recently, a postdoctoral fellow working to create an isogenic, hPSC derived, thymic organoid to model cell-cell interactions during thymus and thymocyte development and eventually create transplant grade tissues and cells.

Led a research project focused on differentiating human stem cells (iPSC/ESC) into thymic epithelial progenitor cells, hematopoietic progenitor cells, and splanchnic mesenchyme to combine into thymic organoids for use as a research model and transplant grade tissues for thymus replacement therapies and ex vivo T cell production.

PhD in Biomedical Sciences: Immunology & Microbiology. Led a research project focused on the impact of a single nucleotide polymorphism in PTPN22, associated with increased risk of Type 1 Diabetes, influences the function of macrophages and dendritic cells. Extensively utilized CRISPR/Cas9 for knocking genes out and editing single nucleotide polymorphisms in both iPSC and immortalized cell lines. Pioneered/Optimized methods for differentiating iPSC into monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
