Consultancy for the introduction of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) services in Lombardy region and Milan's airports. My contribution was in the modelling and simulation phases to estimate the potential demand and passenger flows for such innovative services. My tasks included: - Model construction and implementation in PTV Visum: study area zoning and adaption of demand data from official sources, traditional modes supply (road and regional public transport network), representation of UAM services supply, mode choice model, UAM services assignment model; - Assistance in the model calibration phases: processing of RP/SP survey data to fit NLOGIT input format, automated cost functions update, ASC and parameters fixing through aggregate calibration; - Demand and flow forecasts: implementation and management of future scenarios with different supply or demand features, automated export of KPIs and UAM passenger flow matrices.

R&D internship aimed at the development of big data-driven mobility demand models from mobile network and smartphone app location records. Tasks included: - Extensive literature research: present state of art of big data in people mobility analysis and the related gaps, mobile/smartphone location data acquisition and treatment; - Data provisioning for a pilot study: collection by some recruited volunteers, cleansing, geo-temporal processing and feature engineering to get a useful data format; - Unsupervised learning: different clustering algorithms and feature sets comparison, interpretation of results, trip purposes estimation, identification of criticalities and scalability to a larger dataset. This internship work was also the topic master's degree thesis.

Feasibility study for a new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line in the city of Piacenza. In particular I worked on transport modelling and simulation to obtain travel demand forecasts. My tasks included: - Model implementation in PTV Visum: supply model (study area zoning, road and public transport network definition), four-step demand model and assignment models; - Support for model calibration: automated numeric and visual reports, flexible tool to easily update cost functions parameters, OD matrix correction with traffic counts; - Scenarios management and simulation: implementation and management of supply/demand modifications, automated export of plots and KPIs.

Research activity for the Bachelor thesis. Tasks included: - Training experiments focused on pulse compression and ultrashort Laser pulses techniques; - Building and testing experimental setups with state-of-the-art Laser instruments. § Collecting and analysing data through MATLAB and prior scientific knowledge; - Reporting and presenting results to the supervisor and to the thesis commission.

Document filing for debt recovery for the local environmental health authority

Internship for “Alternanza Scuola-Lavoro” project by Regione Lombardia. Tasks included: - Following the project for a new manufacturing plant; - Translating files for suppliers to English; - Attending meetings and assembly line supervisory.

Core topics: mobility systems and technologies; transport modelling, planning and economics; smart and integrated mobility; transportation safety, sustainability and ethics; logistics; big data and machine learning for mobility. The programme was backed by several projects supported by key industrial players in the field of mobility. Thesis title: "Machine learning techniques for the analysis of people mobility"

Core topics: modern experimental and applied physics; algebra, statistics and calculus; quantum physics; optics, lasers and ultrashort pulses. Thesis title (Italian): "Tecniche di compressione di impulsi a femtosecondi e metodi per la misura della stabilità della fase assoluta"
