As a patent consultant, my primary role is to assist individuals or businesses in navigating the complex world of intellectual property and patents. I work with a diverse range of clients, including startups, established companies, and individual inventors. Some key responsibilities in my role as a patent consultant include conducting prior art searches to assess the novelty of inventions, drafting comprehensive patentability assessments, performing landscape analysis, and engaging in patent drafting.

Key research areas include: the development of in vitro intestinal scaffolds and investigating their effect on stemness; the application of this and similar bioengineering techniques on the area of personalised medicine (specifically in IBD patients); the improvement of intestinal organoid systems through bioengineering approaches. I have been a visiting researcher to the lab of Professor Molly Stevens at the Imperial College London and Dr Nancy Allbritton at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Overall, the purpose of the fellowship is to probe the possible application of bioelectronics/electroceuticals on intestinal epithelium. This application might open future possibilities to induce recovery of intestinal epithelium after treatments with harmful effects on the gut.

Carrying out multiple studies, preparing protocols, and ensuring good scientific practices were carried out in all studies performed. Coordinating with QA functions and manufacturing when executing test protocols, as well as analyzing data from studies and writing final reports, including assembly of all required documentation.

Performed desiccation experiments to test different formulations targeted to alleviate dry eye symptoms. Maintained mono and multilayer epithelium cell culture line. Collaborated in the development of a new wound- healing assay using the Electric Cell-substrate Impedance Sensing (ECIS) machine. Performed biological assays to investigate the cleaning efficiency of new contact lenses solutions designed in-house, as well as measuring different properties of new solutions designed in-house like; surfaces tension; rheology; and turbidity. Participating in developing new ideas, writing Memorandum of Invention (MOI).

Collaborated with surgeons and neurologists by performing neurophysiological recordings in the operating room and laboratory settings to including; electromyography; somatosensory and brainstem auditory evoked potentials; motor evoked potentials; and nerve conduction for the prevention of paralysis in children.

Assembled, maintained, and repaired various medical equipment, like syringe pumps, hospital beds, ECG. Tested the functionality and took accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements according to hospital and government standards.

In close collaboration with researcher Nadav Shir, PhD, and his research into entrepreneurship and well-being, the programs developed for aspiring change agents. The EDGE programs was tailor-made to help us students uncover our personal (entrepreneurial) vision and turn that vision into reality. Going beyond conventional approaches to education, the program was a journey towards life orientation focusing on gaining an increased self-understanding and develop skills necessary for moving towards personal growth and well-being.
