Louise Richards

A dynamic and experienced producer and strategic arts manager. Originally a dancer and visual artist I founded Motionhouse in 1988 with co-director Kevin Finnan and have lead the company ever since. I performed, choreographed and taught for many years but took on executive leadership of the company in 1998, subsequently leading it in developing and delivering a resoundingly successful international strategy as well as phenomenal success within the UK, touring new performance work to theatres, outdoor festivals and delivering a wide ranging programme including large scale outdoor events ( including kicking off Eurovision in Liverpool 2023, Wondrous Stories to launch the Commonwealth Games cultural programme in 2022, Watermusic for Aarhus 2017, Lumen for Timisoara 2018) a series of extraordinary ' machine dances ‘ with dancers and JCB diggers and a versatile and far reaching programme of participatory activity. In recent years our work has been a regular feature at large arena events broadcast on TV. I am committed to skills development within the sector and regularly mentor artists and arts managers. I also offer advice and consultancy services.
