Chief Executive Officer at CereCura Nanotherapeutics @ CereCura Nanotherapeutics
About
As a neuroscientist, I have studied CNS diseases at the molecular, cellular and systems levels, striving to improve our understanding of pathological processes to uncover novel pathways amenable to therapeutic targeting. With CereCura, we’re harnessing the power of RNA therapeutics, developing a transformative approach to treat brain diseases. I believe that by optimizing next-generation genetic drug technologies to the unique challenges of the brain, we will find new ways to treat currently untreatable brain diseases.

Experience

Chief Executive Officer at CereCura Nanotherapeutics
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
CEO & Co-Founder of CereCura Nanotherapeutics, a preclinical stage biotechnology company developing novel RNA therapeutics for central nervous system disorders.

Research Associate
As a senior Research Associate at the UBC Centre for Brain Health, I have been leading research projects in multiple areas of neuroscience. By investigating brain diseases at the molecular, cellular and systems levels, I strive to improve our understanding of pathological processes to uncover novel pathways amenable to therapeutic targeting. I am leading multifaceted projects on neuroinflammation, stroke, neurodegenerative diseases and cerebrovascular regeneration. By adopting a highly collaborative approach to neuroscience, I also participate in team projects on stroke therapy, thrombolytics, epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis and Alzheimer’s Disease. By studying mechanisms common to many neurological disorders, I believe our work can provide a framework to uncover novel treatment modalities for brain diseases.
Education

Neuroscience
Dr Philippe Séguéla's laboratory Study of the intracellular regulation of purinergic receptor channels (P2X) using electrophysiology (patch clamp, two-electrode voltage clamp) and imaging techniques (fluorometric calcium imaging, YO-PRO fluorescence imaging) in various cellular models (Xenopus oocytes, cell lines, primary microglia) along with various molecular biology tools.
