From piping buttercream to boxing up masterpieces — my journey has taken me from baker to packaging entrepreneur. As co-founder of Feestcakejes, I started baking professionally in 2009, riding the cupcake wave with hundreds of happy customers every week. After eight sweet years, we hung up our aprons — but the world of baking never let me go. Today, I run Cupcakedozen.nl, a webshop dedicated to stylish, functional and sustainable packaging for bakers. From cupcake boxes and sweet boxes to cake boards and cookie stamps — I help (home) bakers and patissiers elevate their presentation and protect their creations. I love what I do: developing new packaging solutions, writing engaging content, running marketing campaigns, and working closely with other creatives in the baking world. As a (quite large) side project, I founded Feestcakejes together with my sister Mijke. My training as a baker came in handy after all ;-) Feestcakejes was a national online store ( I dare say the first in The Netherlands) with an overwhelming amount of delicious cupcakes, delivered throughout the country. When we started in 2009, the popularity of cupcakes in The Netherlands was just getting started, and we were processing orders as fast as we could! We are happy and proud to say that we were always successful in delivering delicious and beautiful cupcakes to an endless amount of weddings, birthdays, business events etc. Though after nearly 8 years of baking over 30.000 cupcakes and macarons, we have decided to close the shop. Sales were gradually declining with the ever increasing popularity of home baking and the wider availability of cupcakes in shops. We are okay with that. We are happy and proud to look back on an amazing time where we built a successful company. We made a beautiful and functional online store, we managed to overcome all obstacles in delivering food products and were a small but proud part of many happy festivities. Out of our own search for good cupcake packaging, we have founded Cupcakedozen.nl. And exactly because of home baking and cupcake shops, we have managed to make this into a very successful venture as well!
