The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all merchandise is unloaded and received using correct procedures and delivered to the appropriate location within the store. In addition they are responsible for training all Receiving Associates to follow Home Depot receiving procedures and policies. The Receiving Supervisor should have must a thorough knowledge of Home Depot's receiving procedures and policies. They are also in charge of overseeing the Return to Vendor (RTV) Associates which are responsible for handling returned merchandise in a timely and appropriate manner. Based on the vendor buying agreement (VBA) of the product returned, RTV Associates communicate with suitable store contacts (both internal and external) to expedite movement of product. To accomplish this objective, RTV Associates build and maintain strong working relationships with Vendors and Store Associates to satisfy their specific policies. RTV Associates also problem solve to identify why products are being returned and communicate opportunities to supervisor.

Department Supervisors train, coach and develop associates in each department to ensure customers receive excellent service and can easily find the merchandise they need. In addition they provide valuable input in to merchandising decisions to the Store Management Team, Freight Team Associates and Inventory Management Associates. Department Supervisors have strong product knowledge and the ability to lead and develop others. A Department Supervisor in the Decor department should have product knowledge that includes, but is not limited to the following areas: Wallpaper Adhesive and Tools, roll-up shades, window treatments, blinds, shades and wallpaper types. A Department Supervisor in the Decor department will also use various equipment and machinery to cut shades and blinds.
