Software Engineering - Automotive Infotainment R&D

• Led a group of 23 technical leaders composed of 9 S/W System Architects and 14 Team Leaders which themselves technically supervised over 100 SW System Specialists and SW developers • Defined avionics system architecture to meet project requirements within cost and schedule • Established vision and roadmap for simulated, stimulated and rehosted avionics systems: Cockpit Display System (CDS), Flight Management System (FMS), Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), etc. • Developed and evaluated technical competencies of engineers and address single point of failure • Ensured SW best practices and quality standards such as coding standards and code reviews • Developed, maintained, and applied standards of operation (e.g. Agile-SCRUM process in JIRA, and system knowledge base in SharePoint and Wiki) • Led civil avionics development projects for Boeing, Airbus, ATR, Bombardier and other small jets Achievements • Enhanced design methodology based on the Agile, Design to Cost and DO-178C philosophy in order to improve the traceability between the customer requirements and the finale tests on simulators • Proposed and proved a new distributed graphical solution that uses the new CAE MPIC card and the virtual prototyping tool VAPS XT which could save up to 30 000$ per flight simulator • Investigated and conducted a root cause analysis to solve a recurring problem on the new CAE embedded MPIC card that was affecting all the new generation of flight simulators • Improved the code review process by introducing a code review tool • Provided an avionics subject matter expertise in over 8 conferences and an AIAA technical committee

Responsible for maintaining the ShiftLogic product (Java and SQL programming). Achievements: • Eliminated a 3-year recurrent and intermittent memory leak problem in a monolithic Java application by profiling and analysing the many customer log files • Migrated within 2-weeks a legacy graphical user interface (GUI) from Java 1.4.2 to Java 6 in order to significantly improve the tool performances • Initiated the JUnit implementation for the ShiftLogic product

• Supervised a multidisciplinary (GUI Java-Swing/C++/XMotif, information system, Oracle data base, operational research) team of up to 10 programmers for designing and implementing three airline crew management products: MPP (Manpower Planning), PBS (Preferential Bidding System) and BLISS (Bid Line Integrated Scheduling Suite) Achievements: • Improved the communication interface with external and internal customers by standardizing the interfaces in XML. Responsible for supervising up to seven designers. Accountable for the design and implementation of a Java Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the Optical Network Browser. Moreover, role of consultant architect for the optical project migration toward the Nortel next generation platform. Achievements: • Designed a SONET/SDH, WDM and DWDM network surveillance application by applying the Telecom Management Network (TNM) and Telecom Graphical Object (TGO) standards. • Accelerated the iterative development rhythm from 8 to 5 months by proposing and implementing a flexible and evolutionary architecture. Maintained the development quality and paste with a 60% reduced team. • Improved software product deployment by using a Web server as the central distribution point (Java Web Start – JWS). Reduced the manual PC client installation time from ½ hour to only one click in a browser. • Generalized the software customization by introducing XML configuration files downloadable from a Web server. Kept only one software configuration stream for all customers. • Analyzed a severe alarm management performance problem for the next generation of optical products and proposed efficient correctives.

Responsible for supervising up to five developers for designing and implementing an application launcher for the Nortel next generation platform called Preside Network Services Platform. On top of the administrative tasks (planning, tracking and evaluating), responsible for implementing the CORBA interface, C++ server and maintaining the JAVA client. Achievements: • Directed remotely, from Montreal, a geographically distributed team: Ottawa, Vancouver and India. Demonstrated excellent communication skills and a strong sense of the organization in task planning and distribution. • Contributed to define the Go6 Cut-Through Standard. This protocol allows launching seamlessly native applications of Network Elements (NE) or Element Management Systems (EMS) from the Network Management System (NMS). This protocol utilizes CMISE and TL-1 to remotely reach SONET Network Controllers and uses the SONET Data Communication Channel (DCC) to reach NEs. • Increased internal customer satisfaction by improving the application launcher user friendliness and its ease of configuration. Investigated real user needs in order to only implement features that make a true difference. • Coded more the 5000 C++ lines in six weeks for the remote session manager server. Recognized as the more stable server and as the one generating the least defects during the functional and regression tests of the product alpha version.

Responsible for designing, developing and improving the Dialog Interaction Processor for residential and wire¬less Voice-Activated Dialing services. Also responsible for managing the software configuration for the voice recognition products. Achievements: • Elaborated a generic architecture for the call flow modeling. Reduced by half the time for fine-tuning the interaction dialogues. • Maximized the software build process by implanting a distributed compilation system and automating compilation steps by means of scripts and Perl GUI. Reduced the time of compilation from 8 to 3 hours. • Modernized the Nortel software distribution process with telcos. Sophisticated the software vault functioning for an effective electronic distribution • Refined the homemade tools for testing voice applications in real-time environment (PSOS board). • Contributed to the intranet expansion by conceiving HTML pages and developing tools in Perl/CGI.

Specialist in communication standards and protocols such as Ethernet, FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface), ARINC-429/629, PDM-FSK, RS-232, etc… Responsible for developing and implementing simulated avionics instruments and responsible for integrating real avionics instruments aboard flight simulators (Flight Management Systems, Navigation Systems, Autopilots, Warning Systems, Display Systems, Communication Systems, Anti-Collision Systems, and other black boxes). Recognized as an expert for interpreting and implementing protocol standards. • Conceived and modified real time simulation and stimulation applications in “C” and FORTRAN on IBM Risc/6000, SGI, VAX and Gould minicomputers. Pioneer in the use of "C" language for real time. • Integrated and installed many flight simulators: Boeing 777, Boing 747, MD11, MD80, A300, A310, A320, and Fokker 50, in North America, Europe and Asia.
