As a veterinarian and mother of eight (4 humans, 3 dogs, 1 cat), I understand the joys that pets can bring to a household. I know all about the cuddles, the wet nose kisses, the pitter-patter of paws down the corridor, the loving eyes and that special greeting when you walk through the door. But I also know about the poop, the wees, the itching, the muddy paws, the slobber, the stinky ears, bad breath and that undeniable dog smell. Over the years, I have tried many different grooming products on my pets but could never find something as natural and gentle as what I use on my human children. So, I decided to make my own.

Co-authored Skat the Mutt with Gavin Chimes and illustrator Louis Shea. Skat the Mutt is different to all the other animals at the shelter. With a kitten's face, a monkey's paw, a cockatoo crest and a lobster claw, everyone seems to fear her. Will Skat ever find a home where she can truly belong?

I started working at SASH as an emergency and critical care veterinarian in 2008 soon after the hospital opened. In 2010 I became a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in the Small Animal Medicine chapter. I also helped set up and run SASH’s canine blood bank to help provide life-saving blood transfusions for our patients.
