special features editor
the sacramento bee
My skills as a writer, editor and organizer led to the creation of this position especially for me at the Bee’s community publication, Neighbors. It involved coordinating, assigning and editing special features for 12 editions each week, working with reporters, editors, news assistants, members of the public and free-lance writers.

librarian and researcher
the sacramento bee
Worked independently as a member of the Bee’s four-person editorial research staff, fielding requests for research while handling daily digital archiving in an often-frenetic, deadline-driven environment. Also responsible for writing two columns for the Features section. Successfully merged Travel and Outdoors columns into a new format called Escapes. Moderated 100-plus comments per day from online community readers and oversaw comment threads at sacbee.com.

Wrote features about the University of the Pacific campus, students, instructors and alumni for the Pacific Review, the university's alumni publication, including a piece on the university's first female president, Pamela Eibeck, in the spring of 2010. Also served as interim editor for the monthly magazine for about one year in 1998.

regional office manager
the sacramento bee
Transitioned into newly created position, leveraging my familiarity with the Bee's Regional publications during a critical transition point in the paper's history. The position required me to work closely with the regional editor in developing concepts for new types of regional content for the newly revamped publication.
