As the senior business manager and administrator of the Kennedy Institute of Ethics (http://kennedyinstitute.georgetown.edu), I managed the administrative offices and supervised the Institute’s classified administrative staff and student employees. Duties included oversight and hands-on management and preparation of the Institute’s yearly operating budget and pre- and post-award activity for, numerous federal extramural and privately funded projects, when applicable. I also served as the Institute’s conference coordinator for its five-day annual conference for scholars and researchers from around the nation and the world (called the Intensive Bioethics Course; 2013 marked its 39th conference. As a journal editor, a position that is continuing, I manage a quarterly medical journal in concert with Guest Editors and invited authors to ensure adherence to detailed format instructions for manuscript and artwork, meeting of publisher deadlines, reviewer comments and all pre-publication reporting.
