As an administrative and organizing intern I was the catalyst for a march on Boston Common for Jobs, Justice and Freedom on the 50th anniversary of the civil rights march on Washington, D.C. I empowered formerly incarcerated women and men who campaigned for the rights of unemployed and underemployed workers. We decreased job discrimination by changing Massachusetts’ state law regarding conviction information potential employers have access to during the hiring process.

As a teaching artist with the Education Department of the Wang Theatre I wrote and facilitated a social justice and art based curriculum for the theatre’s summer Leadership Program. I encouraged students to develop community with each other and nurtured confidence in their individual artistic pursuits. I also initiated a meeting for students with the State Senator Cory Atkins, chair of Arts, Culture and Tourism of Massachusetts. Youth led the meeting with the senator and advocated for more arts and youth jobs funding as a viable government response to teen violence

Most of my time was spent volunteering in the Atlanta community and representing the college to the best of my ability. Atlanta Police Department: I was a student in the 2015 Citizen’s Police Academy. Held at APD Training Facility, the class was as diverse as the city of Atlanta itself. We learned about a broad range of subjects ranging from Internal Affairs to fraud and homicide among other topics. I built relationships with fellow students of all ages and backgrounds, along with officers. I went on a graveyard shift ride along in the English Ave and Vine City neighborhoods and graduated in City Council Chambers.

Active participant in the co-creation of global community. Activities and Societies: Innovation Courses taught by the a leader in South African Research and Development. United Nations Mediators taught me mediation, conflict resolution, conflict transformation and transitional justice.
