As an Information Security Officer, I lead the protection of an Enterprise scale multinational network and drive strategic security initiatives across the organisation. Building on over a decade of law enforcement experience with Police Scotland, specialising in computer forensics, investigations, and public service, I now manage end-to-end information security operations and mentor a skilled security team. In my role, I am responsible for: • Network Security Management: Defining and enforcing security controls across a complex, distributed infrastructure to safeguard critical assets and maintain operational integrity. • Standards & Compliance: Ensuring adherence to UK defence contractor requirements, NIST guidelines, and ISO standards, conducting regular assessments, and collaborating with auditors to validate compliance. • Risk Assessments: Conducting comprehensive risk assessments of network architectures and dependencies to identify vulnerabilities, quantify potential impacts, and recommend mitigation strategies. • Incident Response & Investigation: Leading the detection, investigation, and resolution of security incidents, coordinating containment, root-cause analysis, and remediation efforts. • Cybersecurity Assurance & Auditing: Orchestrating thorough audits and control reviews to verify that systems and processes meet industry and regulatory benchmarks. • Policy & Strategy Development: Crafting security policies, standards, and roadmaps that align with business objectives and evolving threat landscapes. • Solution & Programme Delivery: Implementing targeted security solutions to address organisational risks. • Business-Wide Support: Partnering with stakeholders and customers across functions to integrate security best practices into daily operations and achieve business objectives within a secure environment.
