Lewis Cheng

Lewis is an investor, entrepreneur, startup catalyst, and manufacturing expert who has helped build and lead more than 20 businesses across startups, growth companies, and multinationals. He mentors entrepreneurs to turn vision into executable blueprints with profitable, long-term strategies. His experience spans talent identification, operational architecture, and succession planning. He is Managing Partner of KD Capital, a family office focused on early-stage and opportunistic investments, with a portfolio of over 30 companies worldwide. He leads the investment committee, oversees the portfolio, and mentors founders in launching and scaling operations. As a serial entrepreneur, Lewis has founded or co-founded 17 businesses now grown into multi-million-dollar brands. He is known for anticipating risk, managing through uncertainty, and backing founders with grit, perseverance, and those most determined to help change the world. Among several board roles, Lewis is Chairman of the Board for Polygroup, a global leader in seasonal décor and outdoor recreation. As former CEO, he grew Polygroup into the world’s largest manufacturer of artificial Christmas trees and tripled its revenue over 10 years through organic growth and market expansion. Results: products in 50+ countries, over 15,000 employees, and facilities in Asia and North America. As Chairman, he advises the C-suite on corporate, financial, IP, and legal strategy. Lewis is also an active art collector. He nurtures talent, supports education, and fosters opportunity, knowing the path to greatness is unpredictable and not without risk. Whether entrepreneur or artist, he relishes the moment they shine. He supports public institutions through the North American Acquisition Committee for Tate, the Asia Pacific Committee for Amis du Centre Pompidou, and the Founder’s Circle at Dragon Hill Residency in the south of France. He sits on the executive committee of the YPO Pan Greater Bay Area Chapter. Lewis holds a BS from Cornell and an MBA from Stanford.
