About

I am a Sport and Exercise Science student at the University of Hertfordshire (UH), due to enter my fourth (final) year in September 2016, after undertaking a placement year as a Medical Intern at Fulham Football Club for the 2015/16 season. This was an invaluable experience, building upon degree knowledge from my first two years and previous sporting insight I have received, testing personal skills and application in an elite sport setting. UH has been ranked in the top 10 Universities in the UK for Sports Science on The Guardian's league table for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016). Unistats have data showing 100% of Sport & Exercise Science graduates from UH are in employment within 6 months of course completion. With growing popularity and educational recognition as a university, I am both proud and excited to be a part of the student body at UH, receiving expert teaching at a modernised university alongside a brand new £15million Sports Village.

I overlooked and supervised the development of the younger athletes involved at the club when I reached an experienced junior level, as I progressed into the Intermediate age group (under 17). This was predominantly utilised as physiological aid in training, but also involved psychological support, particularly at large events or new stadiums. Assisting the coaches instructing the training sessions to enhance the potential development of younger athletes. Working with athletes of an array of abilities, extracting on my own life experiences in their situation, improving my social and interpersonal skills. Implementing elements of my personal development as an athlete, particularly the psychological approach to training and how to overcome hindrances such as a poor event performance/injury. Withholding the responsibility of growing athletes required a positive work ethic as a mentor to encourage motivation and self-improvement, which involved using my initiative when specific scenarios needed a solution.
