The New York City REEL Recovery Film Festival is a 7-day event showcasing first-time filmmakers and experienced professionals who make films about addiction, treatment, recovery and sobriety.

9th annual Experience, Strength and Hope Award Event TBA is the honored guest and award recipient. The W.I.T. Award is given in recognition of an individual's honest memoir including their journey though addiction to recovery and their dedication and enthusiasm for carrying the message of recovery to a society awash in addiction. Leonard Buschel CADCA, is a California State Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and publisher. He is the Founder of Writers In Treatment. W.I.T. is a non-profit organization which helps individuals in the writing profession suffering from any self-destructive addiction get into a good treatment facility. We also produce educational and prevention programs for the recovering community, schools, businesses and civic groups Mr. Buschel has studied with many numinous psychologists and evolutionary thinkers including R.D. Laing, Bruno Bettleheim, Joseph Chilton Pierce, Pir Valiat Khan, James Hillman, Robert Bly, Chogyem Trungpa Rimpoche, Rev. Michael Beckwith and Ram Dass. He also was the co-founder of The Laughter Heals Foundation, a non-profit organization promoting the healing power of laughter. Recently he assisted Malibu Ranch Milestones with their full day workshop with Dr. Patch Adams. Mr. Buschel also assisted at the Spirit Recovery Conference in Palm Springs, featuring Byron Katie, Dr. Joan Borysenko Tian Dayton and Mariette Hartley. Previously Mr. Buschel worked for Logan House Publications as editor and publisher.

Project Manager and Co-Founder • Devise public relations and marketing policies and maintain media contacts. • Develop and implement all aspects of fundraising, including marketing, foundation and corporate fundraising, direct mail appeals & newsletter, donor research and cultivation. • Manage advisory board committees to include the development of strategies, actions, and maintain ongoing communication with advisory board members and volunteers. • Compose, edit and proofread correspondences, memos, and various reports. Establish new outreach sites, i.e. hospitals and other institutions.

Founded Logan House Publications and orchestrated the marketing and sales of 27,000 copies of “Algae to the Rescue! Everything you need to know about nutrition Blue-Green Algae”. Conceived, Co-wrote, Edited & Art directed “Algae to the Rescue!” (author; Karl J. Abrams) Publicist and Agent for Prof. Karl J Abrams. Coordinated 50 radio and cable TV shows and organized 25 weekend workshops nationally. Created “AlgaePower” brand of nationally available blue green algae.
