Led Beaumont Hospital, Troy with a budget of over $750 million in Revenue and 5,000 employees. Worked collaboratively with hospital and medical administration to address financial and operational challenges and opportunities, developed strategic plans, prioritized and implemented initiatives. -Under my leadership the hospital achieved CMS 5-Star rating, Leapfrog straight A award, and was recognized as one the countries Top 50 Hospitals by Healthgrades 3 years in a row. -Incident Commander for Beaumont, Troy from the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020. Primary leader through all stages of the pandemic including the initial patient surge in the Spring of 2020, re-emergence of business from the initial shut down of non-essential services, then all subsequent patient surges while maintaining high levels of service, quality, and safety for our community. -Developed plans and led initiatives through the pandemic impacting tens of thousands in the community. This included services at the Troy Hospital for drive through testing, self-collection testing, pre-surgical testing clinic, and a vaccination clinic. -Led the hospital through many highly successful regulatory accreditation surveys, including The Joint Commission, Level II Trauma Center, Bariatric Center of Excellence, Stroke and Sepsis certifications. -Led a comprehensive strategic planning process for the Troy Hospital and ambulatory center market resulting in key strategic initiatives for continued growth and improved operational performance. -Led hospital wide projects addressing efficiency and capacity constraints. Worked collaboratively with nursing and physician leadership to address inefficiencies and reduce avoidable utilization of inpatient beds. This included key projects related to length of stay, testing and procedural efficiencies, post-surgical care unit, same day surgeries, and discharge processes. Decreased severity adjusted LOS by 10% and reduced surgical bed need by 25%.

Entrusted with financial responsibility for the Troy Hospital, significantly improving the financial results and key metrics over this period. Progressive operational leadership of clinical and support departments including Security, Facilities, Materials Mgt, IT, Beaumont Health Club, Dialysis Clinics, Care Mgt, Rehab, Lab, Pharmacy, Imaging, Oncology, etc. Proving myself as a leader and driving results, was also assigned to other key divisions in the health system to improve their overall financial and operational performance. Administrative responsibility of the corporate Financial Decision Support department and the EPSi Decision Support System (cost accounting, contract modeling, system wide reporting). Responsible for operating and capital budgets, strategic planning, financial analysis, accounting, property accounting, and reimbursement. -Led the Troy Hospital through a significant recession and periods of tremendous growth, increasing revenue from $380 million in 2006 to $740 million in 2019. Improved the net operating income from $19 million (5% margin) to $79 million (11% margin) over that time period. -Assigned to the for-profit Beaumont Lab Services division from January 2012 to October 2015 to improve the financial and operational performance. Net operating income for the Lab improved from a ($3.4) million loss in 2011 to a $6.0 million profit in 2015. -Assigned to oversee and improve the financial performance of the Grosse Pointe Hospital and Home Health divisions from October 2013 to December 2015. Net operating income for the divisions improved from a ($9.0) loss in 2013 to a break-even in 2015. -Finance lead through the planning, approval, and implementation for a major $400 million site master plan expansion project. -Fiscal responsibility and Board member for Joint Ventures with Physicians. Worked collaboratively with physician investors to improve financial and operational performance.

Responsible for the cost accounting, payment validation functions, and special projects for the Troy hospital. Leader for all financial and clinical reporting for service lines, patient populations, and departmental data for department leaders, hospital administration, and medical administration -Completed the implementation and ongoing development of the EPSi Decision Support System within the established project timeline. EPSi utilized our hospital as a key demonstration site for their potential clients to visit. -Developed and distributed automated physician balanced scorecards for the medical staff utilizing crystal reports and different databases with financial, operational, and quality metrics.

Key strategic advisor to help set the future direction of the companies. -Updated and automated all aspects of the companies related to the accounting and financial functions. -Analyzed, streamlined, and automated many aspects of operations. -Set up proper accounting controls and procedures for all companies. -Reduced operating expenses by over 15% in the first year and increased operational efficiency while increasing revenue by over 30%.

Responsible for all aspects of reimbursement and cost accounting for the Troy Hospital and Home Health divisions (Home Care, Home Infusion, Home Medical Equipment, Hospice, Skilled Nursing Facilities). -Responsible for 3rd party cost reporting, audits and appeals, and the annual external reimbursement audit. -Improved the monthly process for the contractual allowance, write-offs, and bad debt analysis; net revenue calculations; analysis and reporting for managed care contracts. -Managed the development, maintenance, enhancement, and reporting of the Eclipsys Decision Support System and Sunrise Decision Support Manager.
