The PERS Board of Trustees is responsible for the prudent administration of the retirement system. The Board consists of nine trustees. Six employee representatives, including three state employee PERS members, each serving a three year term. Every July the Board of Trustees selects a chairperson. Lee has been serving as Chairperson for seven years. Each Board member takes an oath that he or she will diligently and honestly administer the Board's affairs and will not knowingly violate any provision of law. The duties of the Board are partly ministerial and partly based on its authority to adjudicate claims. The Board resolves difficulties based upon the merit of each case and in view of the statutes, Attorney General opinions, advise of the actuary and cases cited by counsel as relevant..
