Leng’enda Meitaya

I'm an Indigenous GIS expert passionate about community-driven work. Born and raised in a rural village bordering the eastern outskirts of the famous Serengeti National Park, I’ve witnessed my community lose land due to land grabs, evictions, and other pressures. Since then, I’ve been deeply committed to helping my people reclaim lost land and protect what remains. I pursued studies in GIS because I wanted to make a real impact—using data and technology to produce evidence that supports advocacy, guides land use planning, predicts environmental change, and preserves our natural heritage. Through GIS, I aim to ensure communities design land use plans that reflect their needs, not external interests. Let’s connect and make a difference together.
