Senior Software Engineer for the Data Mining and Social Computing Group within the TSSG. Responsibilities included system designer and researcher for the EU funded OpenI project creating the base for which the project proceeded. Architectural, technological and security recommendations issued from an elaboration and elicitation phases chairing a workshop in the process. Developer and researcher on a big data electricity generation project in conjunction with NTT Data. Languages used include Java, JavaScript, CoffeeScript. Additional responsibility acting as a postdoc researcher and collaborator on EU framework 7 proposals and successfully mentored 2 publications for junior researchers.

Research Assistant as part of work experience during my third year of college. Worked as a programmer on funded projects such as CELTIC Madeira and assisted other researchers with day to day activities. This resulted in me setting up and maintaining a Virtual Server using the Xen software, a role which led to my first publication.

* Started out as a Research Assistant while pursuing a Masters by Research. This work evolved into a PhD which officially commenced with my transfer to the PhD register in November 2009. Responsibilities included: * Java developer on several EU and Irish funded Projects * Peer reviewed publications * Collaboration with national and international research institutes * Flexible development to achieve cutting edge results * Exposure to Groovy, JavaScript and CoffeeScript with fluency attained within a short time period * Complete flexibility with major paradigm languages * Agile methodology followed where possible on research projects and papers * Strong independent thinking and critical analysis skills * Strong architectural skills and usage of design patterns to create a sound solution * Excellent prototyping skills

* Working as a part time lecturer Leigh delivered modules in: * Systems Analysis and Design * Client Server Technologies * IT Communication * IT Skills * Final Year Project Supervision * Across a diverse range of courses from certificate to degree level including a strong practical element in all modules which had to be designed, implemented and delivered. Leigh took a hands on approach with his students mixing practicals with theory to great effect.

I enrolled on a Research Masters while working as a research assistant in September 2007. My original topic area was Domain Specific Languages (DSL) in the context of re-engineering Instant Messaging clients. This work looked at Java and Groovy based clients with an internal DSL to be embedded within Groovy. As my research progressed I got more involved in researching the group mechanics and how the groups formed. I decided to formally push my research to PhD level, leaving behind the core idea of DSLs and taking my research within the area to a new domain, Group Formation and Interaction Management. In November 2009 I transferred my research to a PhD track. Less than 3 years after beginning my research in my newly chosen area, my body of research was sufficient enough to defend my research hypothesis and in September 2012 I passed my viva voca examination with minor typographic changes. I formally graduated in January 2013.
