I have joined the graduate student association and helped to organized the annual Student Symposium for 2 consecutive years. The job scope involves contacting and inviting keynote and guest speakers, source and contact sponsors and funding agencies, organize and manage the oral and poster presentations and ensure that the actual day program flows smoothly. The symposium is a one day event with over 200 attendees from multiple research disciplines, while the programmes team has around 10 volunteer members.
