Laurie Wein

Develops and manages conservation and ecological restoration projects focused on the management of Invasive Alien Species (IAS) and forest ecosystem restoration. Facilitates and develops multi-agency partnerships in support of projects that deliver global conservation gains. Provides leadership and liaison of a diversity of stakeholders in support of collaborative conservation programming, including First Nations, provincial and national governments, environmental organizations, funders and local communities.

Cuso International is a non-profit international development organization, working to improve the lives of people living with poverty and inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean, West, Central and East Africa, and Southeast Asia, as well as in Canada and the United States. We work in partnership through development programs to create positive lasting change that improves health, education, livelihood, access to justice and governance. Each year we mobilize hundreds of volunteer professionals who work alongside local partners, together delivering real results.

I coordinated grants and contribution proograms of $9 million that supproted strategic investments for economic and community development in the business, fisheries, community development and arts sectors of Nunavut. I coordinated assessment and monitoring of approximately 50 agreements annually with businesses and community organizations, and supported evaluation of program outcomes.

Consultant for UNESCO's World Heritage Program in the Pacific region. I coordinated the development of the Solomon Islands Tentative List for World Heritage Properties and supported a twinning arrangement between Solomon Islands and Australia to build capacity for World Heritage management. I also developed capacity building projects with a range of non-governmental organizations to support improved community-managed conservation and sustainable livelihoods programs in Solomon Islands.
