Laura Carswell

I qualified with dual Diplomas in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy, awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons, England. During training I worked in a busy community dental setting in a socially deprived area of Greater Manchester where I treated a diverse range of patients, including paediatric patients and patients with special care needs. We also gained vital experience working in a general dental care setting, which enabled us to become familiar with dental computer programmes (Exact and Kodak R4), as well as improving time management and clinical skills. I currently work in a busy NHS practice three days a week providing both hygiene and therapy care to a wide range of patients. I plan the delivery of care for patients to improve and maintain their periodontal health. I also provide preventive oral care to motivate patients in improving their oral hygiene and liaise with dentists over the treatment of caries, periodontal disease and tooth wear. I enjoy practicing restorative dentistry placing direct restorations on permanent and primary teeth, where I excel working with nervous and paediatric patients acclimatising them to the dental environment.
