The Moth is a renowned nonprofit organization dedicated to the craft and sharing of true, personal stories. The Moth’s Global and Community Engagement Programs bring storytelling workshops and performance opportunities to diverse communities and institutions in selected cities worldwide. MothWorks is a business-focused program offering customized workshops and private events. Work includes • Introducing the art and craft of true, first-person storytelling • Guiding participants through all phases of story development, including identification/exploration of significant life events; exploration of narrative structure; and live presentation • Directing storytelling performances for select audiences and the general public, Sponsored by such institutions as The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Ford Foundation, and UN Women, Global community participants include advocates for gender equality, family planning, food security, midwifery, and disease prevention (HIV, TB, HPV, Polio). Workshops are held regularly throughout the Global South. US-based Community participants include (1) currently and formerly incarcerated individuals (Metropolitan Correctional Center NY; The Innocence Network); (2) public defenders, civil rights and death-row attorneys (Trial Lawyers College); and (3) military veterans (Wounded Warrior Project, Minnesota Humanities Center; NYC Veterans Alliance). MothWorks partners include Google, Heineken, MassMutual, Nike, Spotify, T-Mobile, Vanguard, among many others.

Improv/Sketch Instructor
Also The People's Improv Theater (NYC) and Independent Workshops (NYC/LA). Classes include SCENIC IMPROVISATION: Theater games and scene-building techniques using exercises developed by Viola Spolin, Keith Johnstone, Del Close, and others, focusing on ensemble/group play, observation, listening, agreement, and physical expression. MUSICAL IMPROVISATION: Spontaneous creation of songs and musical performance pieces using principles of rhythm, rhyme, narrative, and melodic/harmonic structure, in combination with improvisation techniques. SKETCH COMEDY: Creation, development, performance of scripted scenes: scenarios introduced by students, then developed via improvisation and comedic/dramatic writing techniques and exercises.

Producing/Artistic Director
Created, curated, and facilitated original programs including classes, workshops, performance labs. Recruited company’s first active and effective board of directors. Created and maintained company’s first serviceable website; oversaw all aspects of marketing, publicity, and promotion.
