Lead engineer in design and developing new features to NetWorker Management Console (NMC). NMC is a Java-based GUI application launched by the Java Web Start technology through any web browsers. It provides NetWorker system and storage administrators an interface for configuring, managing and monitoring NetWorker servers in a large-scale complex distributed environment. • Analyzed & negotiated project requirements, created design specifications & project schedules, tracked & managed project schedules, identified & managed risks, and drove projects through successful deployment on time. • Developed a wizard plug-in framework, which served as an infrastructure for building the extensible and pluggable wizards to configure various NetWorker backup and recovery types. • Created Backup & Recover Wizards for file systems with the wizard plug-in framework. The wizards replaced the legacy NetWorker backup & recovery GUI applications for UNIX & Windows. • Implemented wizard plug-ins to extend the Backup & Recover Wizards’ support to various storage & snapshot technologies, such as NetWorker PowerSnap, Block Based Backup (BBB), Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) & Network Attached Storage (NAS). • Mentored NetWorker module teams to develop their wizard plug-ins, which extended the Backup & Recover Wizards’ support to database & application modules, such as Oracle, DB2 and MS Exchange Server. • Enhanced Device Wizard to configure Data Domain storage systems and EMC ProtectPoint(VMAX3) to NetWorker. It simplified setup & configuration process to integrate data deduplication and snapshot technologies to Networker. • Led team of 2 engineers to complete NMC I18N/L10N project. NMC was successfully localized to French, simplified Chinese, Korean and Japanese. • Introduced pseudo-localization (pseudo-L10N) process to development cycle. Most I18N common issues were caught during development cycle, which led to shorter L10N testing cycle, and less translation cost.

The GUI replaced manual command line procedure to detect and configure drive sharing among multiple hosts, eliminated device misconfiguration caused by human error that lead to backup and recovery failure. • Led team of 3 engineers to design and implement Legato GEMS SmartMedia software with C++ and Qt (C++ based GUI toolkits). GEMS SmartMedia was device and library-sharing management application for reducing administrative costs across enterprise storage infrastructure.
